You’re not likely to stay at any other B&B run by someone with the background and experience that Lauren has in public health. Your Innkeeper, Lauren, has her Master’s in Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University, worked for the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, and has training in epidemiology. With her extensive knowledge you can rest assured that the Craignair Inn and Restaurant will continue to follow all applicable safety protocols, best practices, and will be processing and implementing the latest CDC guidance as it relates to COVID-19. We are dedicated to doing everything in our power to make your visit with us as safe and risk-free as possible.

Cleanliness is and has always been a top priority at the Craignair, which is also our home. As such, we want to take time to let you, our guests, know about what we are doing specifically as it relates to the current health crisis to keep you safe during your visit to Maine. We are working closely to monitor the situation and implement best practices for the hospitality industry.

The state of Maine and the state CDC are taking extra precautions to reduce the impact across the state. We are additionally following state recommended actions and protocols. For more information from the State of Maine please look here: Maine CDC.

To ensure the health and safety of our guests and our focus on our environment, we use cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting products that are eco-friendly, and will also do the job they are designed to do: reduce pathogen populations.

KNOWING THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CLEANING, DISINFECTING, AND SANITIZING
Cleaning removes germs, dirt, and impurities from surfaces or objects. Cleaning works by using soap and water to physically remove germs from surfaces. This process does not necessarily kill germs, but by removing them, it lowers their numbers and the risk of spreading infection.

Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level, as judged by public health standards or requirements.

Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects. Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects.

We use a combination of cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting. For example, we use disinfecting wipes on electronic items that are touched often, such as remotes and white noise machines.

In order to follow the Centers for Disease Control’s recommendations, we are:

Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting frequently touched objects in the rooms like lamp/light switches, knobs, white noise machines, door handles, and remotes before and after your visit

Cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting frequently touched objects in the common areas like handrails, light switches, and door knobs.

Following strict public health guidelines in our kitchen and dining room

We will do our best to keep any cleaning smells to a minimum.
