Our little corner of the world slows down and buttons up starting in November. Lots of eateries close for the season, or operate with reduced hours. We’ve put together a list of places that are terrific and perfectly suited for Maine winter getaways. Find a cozy breakfast spot, a cafe for a light lunch in between Main Street shopping and museum tours, and a romantic restaurant for a wintry dinner, all within 40 minutes of The Craignair Inn by the Sea. If you are staying at our seaside inn Friday through Sunday, your easiest and most delicious option is right here at our own Causeway Restaurant, open for weekend dinner and drinks and Sunday brunch all year! Make a reservation here in the dining room, on the heated oceanfront deck, or in the intimate art gallery. Then get out and explore the dining scene! Eat like a local on your foodie vacation in Maine.

When we get a chance to dine out, we love to visit our friends. The MidCoast of Maine is essentially one small town, and going out to eat is a social occasion, especially in winter. We are pleased to live in a place where local food is valued, the farmers and fishermen who grow and harvest the ingredients are valued, and where the dining experience is deeply felt, deeply enjoyed, and there is a practice of gratitude for the slivers of abundance available to us all year. If you are planning a winter visit to our MidCoast Maine bed and breakfast, we encourage you to visit some of these wonderful eateries, bakeries, fun local fast food, and fine dining options. Cheers to good food and a cozy winter in Maine.
