A blissful getaway or gourmet meal at The Craignair Inn by the Sea—a standout luxury B&B on the MidCoast—also happens to double as a taste of the Maine art scene.
Ken Schweizer Maine Art Show at The Craignair Gallery: May 28th to June 25th
Our on-site art gallery will display Ken’s pieces from May 28th through June 25th. And as usual, we’ll also be hosting an opening reception for the show that’ll have Ken in attendance. That little kickoff soiree, complete with complimentary eats and drinks, will take place the evening of Wednesday, May 29th, from 4 to 7 PM. We hope to see you there!
Originally from West Hartford, Connecticut (and boasting a long stint as a film producer down in Los Angeles on his C.V.), Ken now lives in Port Clyde, Maine, just a stone’s throw from The Craignair Inn by the Sea here on the MidCoast’s St. George Peninsula. Working out of his home studio, he paints everything from still-lifes to seascapes, aiming to create “art that is timeless, attractive, and captivating” (as his website bio notes).
His Port Clyde perch supplies Ken with daily and diverse inspiration: creative fodder such as, he explains, “tall evergreens, ocean wildlife, working waterfronts, and picturesque waterfronts.” Such scenes have drawn artists working in many different media to the Maine seashore for centuries, and Ken Schweizer is certainly a wonderful modern-day exponent of the tradition.
You can have a look at some of Ken’s pieces right here, and mark your calendars now so that you can come admire his skills and unique eye in person here at The Craignair Gallery this early summer!
Maine Fine Art at The Craignair Gallery & Outstanding Dining at The Causeway Restaurant
It’s a privilege to be able to showcase local Maine artists such as Ken Schweizer at our seaside bed-and-breakfast: another way we support the regional community and celebrate this very, very special place we get to call home.
Ken’s show follows our Nancy Baker exhibition in April, and, in turn, will come followed up by Lydia Kaeyer (June 25th through July 30th). You can check out the complete schedule of exhibitions at The Craignair Gallery by clicking here.
The Craignair Gallery lies within our celebrated MidCoast restaurant, The Causeway, only upping its uniqueness among art galleries in Maine. One of several distinct Causeway dining areas, the Gallery—complete with a friendly fireplace and a baby grand piano—provides a serene and beauty-filled space in which to admire Maine fine art while tucking into superbly crafted coastal cuisine.
So in addition to the elegance of the main dining room and the al fresco pleasures of the outdoor seaside deck, The Causeway Restaurant at our Inn by the Sea invites you to relish scrumptious dinners (and Sunday brunches!) surrounded by Maine art in The Craignair Gallery.
