When we opened the Craignair Inn in Spruce Head, Maine, we wanted to give our guests a one-of-a-kind experience focused on comfort and quality. To make that possible, we searched for local businesses that could help us build a welcoming atmosphere and show visitors exactly what sets MidCoast Maine apart from their other travel destinations.

Our business partners are a big part of what makes The Causeway Restaurant so great. From adding an especially scrumptious ingredient to your dinner to brewing a hot cup of coffee that starts your day off right, we couldn't do what we do without the skills and expertise of our partner companies. These are the businesses that we love most.

Spear Spring Farm

Spear Spring Farm is a 170-acre farm in Warren, Maine. It produces organic-practice, pesticide-free crops for local customers, shops, andSpear Spring Farm harvesting restaurants. They also operate one of the best farm stands in Maine. Jamien and her team work tirelessly to provide some of the highest quality produce Maine has to offer.

You can visit their roadside stand, conveniently located right on Route 1 on your way to The Craignair Inn (linked) to pick up your favorite vegetables, including colorful peppers, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions. The stand also carries products from other local vendors, including beer, wine, and honey.

If you'd rather not make the trip to the farm, don't worry. You'll also have the chance to enjoy many of their ingredients when you dine at our in-house restaurant, The Causeway.

Rock City Coffee Roasters

That heavenly smell you detect when you wake up at the Craignair Inn comes courtesy of Rock City Coffee Roasters. Rock City is a worker-owned cooperative that produces custom-roasted coffee blends.

Their coffees are sold at some of the best restaurants near Rockland, Maine, including the Craignair Inn. We've created special names for Rock City's blends based on our dogs, Gertie and Ruby, but the flavor is still the same as you would get if you visited their café in Rockland.

You'll also get a taste if you order one of our most popular dinner menu items, the hanger steak. We use their coffee as a marinade for our steaks, giving them incredible tenderness and a completely unique flavor.

Atlantic Sea Farms

Our guests love the exquisitely salty taste of our seaweed salad, and we owe a lot of the credit to Atlantic Sea Farms. Our dish is built on their sustainably sourced seaweed.

As a woman-owned seaweed farming company located in Biddeford, Atlantic Sea Farms is dedicated to serving customers and protecting the planet at the same time. To accomplish that goal, they farm regenerative seaweed and make it available to grocery stores, restaurants, and other companies across the country.

Bixby Chocolate

Founded by Kate McAleer in 2011, Bixby Chocolate is responsible for the melt-in-your-mouth treats that we offer to all of our guests. We also incorporate Bixby's delectable sweets into our restaurant desserts, creating the perfect finish for your evening meal.

Bixby Chocolate is the only “bean to bar” chocolate company in the state where Kate and her family personally select beans from around the world to implement into their bars. Bixby has won countless awards and distinguished recognition from the International Chocolate Awards, the Specialty Food Association, the Good Food Foundation, MaineBiz, Yankee Magazine, and more! Take one bite and you’ll see why.

Chocolate bars, bonbons, toffees, caramels, and fresh roasted coffee, are just a few of the items you can buy from Bixby’s chocolate shop in Rockland, Maine.

Heiwa Tofu

Located in Rockport, Heiwa Tofu is a family business with a mission to share delicious, handcrafted tofu with customers throughout New England, ultimately expanding to the rest of the country. The company was born in a Camden garage in 2008. Today, it's a flourishing small business that uses organic soybeans to create exceptional tofu.

You'll find Heiwa Tofu's products in many restaurants, markets, and co-ops in MidCoast Maine, and we're happy to say that The Causeway is among them. We're proud to offer Heiwa Tofu to guests and patrons who dine in our restaurant.

Aphrodite Oysters

Aphrodite Oysters is a local, woman-owned business located just around the corner from the Inn and next to the famous McLoons Lobster. Founder and operator Krista Tripp and her team grow and harvest some of the most delicious and popular oysters in the state.

Because of Krista's hard work, we're able to offer the freshest, crispest, and cleanest cocktail oysters. For something different, try our bone-marrow-butter chargrilled oysters on the restaurant menu. Their fresh flavor and smooth texture are developed in the waters of the Weskeag River at the mouth of the Penobscot Bay and brought to your plate by Aphrodite Oysters' daily efforts.
