Imagine this…
You drive to the end of a dead-end road where you catch your first view of Clark Cove on the Atlantic Ocean. A little while later; now you’re sitting in front of a blazing fire crackling inside of a 100-year-old cast iron fireplace. A glass of wine in one hand and a book in the other.
In the morning, you can walk around the new 120-acre Clark Island Preserve with a lap around the historic (now likely frozen over) Clark Island Quarry. The island has always been accessible to Inn guests but has recently been preserved forever by the Maine Coast Heritage Trust. With the peace and quiet of the season, you can close your eyes and imagine the quarry, full of life, mining, and shipping granite down the eastern seaboard as far as Washington D.C.

A snowshoe hike with sweeping ocean views
Visit the Camden Hills State Park with nearly 6,000 acres of splendid forest, trails, and ocean views. Only a quick 25-minute drive from the Inn.
Viewing the art at the Farnsworth Museum without the summer crowds
The Farnsworth Art Museum is one of the well-renowned museums in New England and has gained notoriety around the world for its dedication to the arts and the community. Winter is your chance to get to enjoy the beauty of their collections without the rush of the summer season. Only a 15-minute drive into downtown Rockland, Maine, “the arts capital of Maine”.
A delicious hot meal without ever having to leave the Inn
Join us downstairs at The Causeway Restaurant for one of the best meals Maine has to offer. Curl up by the fire before or after your meal with a glass of wine and a puzzle or a book.
Nordic/Cross-country skiing or snowshoeing through a snowy forest
There are many places in the area, but our favorite is the Hidden Valley Nature Center by Maine’s Midcoast Conservatory, located in Jefferson, ME about 40 minutes from the Inn. Over 1,000 acres of land and endless trails, you’re sure to have a blast at this gem of a preserve.
Steaming locally roasted coffee first thing in the morning
Our coffee is fresh ground for each pot and roasted locally at the Rock City Roasters in Rockland. We worked with their experts to blend a special dark roast mix just for our guests. You won’t find it better anywhere else.
The US National Toboggan Championships
Every year in early February, people from across the country come to Camden, ME to take part in (yes – take part in, no experience necessary!) and spectate for a day of toboggan luge, warm fires, beer, and fun. This annual event is not to be missed.
Great craft beer from local breweries
The Maine Beer Trail offers something for beer drinkers of all kinds. With several local options within a 30-minute drive (some as close as 8 minutes away!) you definitely won’t go thirsty! Check out more info on the locals here.
Once you arrive back at the inn, you can snuggle up in front of the fire after you long day of adventuring, watch the sunset over the ocean from your room, or pop out to the causeway to get an Instagram-worthy photo and enjoy a delicious at our onsite restaurant.
