You won’t need to be in New Orleans to celebrate Mardi Gras! You simply need to travel over to the Causeway Restaurant located on the St. George peninsula, just south of Rockland and Camden. The Causeway hosts an annual Mardi Gras in Maine celebration. The event weekend kicks off with a 6-course pairing dinner featuring traditional Mardi Gras fare and 6 specialty Mardi Gras themed cocktails.

The weekend continues with a special Mardi Gras themed menu showcasing some of the tasting dishes, other traditional Louisiana cuisine, and some of the Causeway Restaurant specialties. The Causeway transforms into New Orleans and is decorated with all of the traditional Mardi Gras flair as well as a photo booth.

The Causeway’s Chef Fernando once worked with the famed Chef Paul Prudhomme at his legendary K-Paul’s Louisiana Kitchen. In addition to working with Chef Prudhomme, Chef Fernando has also worked with the Louisiana Department of Agriculture and SUSTA (Southern United States Trade Association) where he traveled around the world hosting Mardi Gras festivals. Chef Fernando has traveled to Venezuela, Spain, Japan, Colombia, as well as other international and national venues to showcase traditional Louisiana products and dishes. Perhaps nobody in the state of Maine has the training and experience preparing these dishes that Chef Fernando possesses.
